At the time it was the fifth consecutive penalty called against Carolina on Sunday, May 14, 2006 at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-1 in game five of their best of seven NHL Eastern Conference Semifinal series. The win clinched the series for Carolina four games to one.
